How to Make THCA Tincture With These Easy 8 Steps

Are you looking for something that won’t get you high but bring you health benefits instead? Look no further than THCA! THCA or Tetrahydrocannabinolic acid is the precursor to the famous THC, a cannabinoid molecule in marijuana, recognized as the principal psychoactive ingredient – in short words it is the substance that makes people feel as if they were in the clouds (high).

The main difference here is that THCA, instead of getting you high, offers many health benefits such as anti-inflammatory, anti-analgesic, and anti-emetic. THCA is non-intoxicating and obtained through decarboxylation; a process where tetrahydrocannabinolic acid (THCA) will naturally decarboxylate into tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) over time or immediately after being exposed to heat.

Health Benefits to THCA and CBD

There are many terms in the cannabis industry related to health benefits, and CBD is one of them. This cannabidiol compound provides relief for anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. It is also ideal in helping people with sleep problems. If you would like to know more information about CBD benefits, take a look at our article on the many benefits CBD provides to adults.

It is no surprise that Marijuana is being used for self-care nowadays, and THCA tinctures are no exception. THCA is an effective neuroprotectant, meaning that it is beneficial for sclerosis, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease. Research has also shown that THCA helps slow the proliferation of cancerous cells. How to Make Your Own THCA Tincture

Now that you know the origin and what THCA means, let’s get you through this guide on how to make a THCA tincture following the 8 simple steps below. The two ingredients you’ll need are 14 grams of THC Cannabis flower (NOT decarboxylated) and 8 ounces 190-proof grain alcohol.

Step 1:

Place the NON-decarboxylated CBD flower in a mason jar inside the freezer and freeze overnight.

Step 2:

Pour the cold alcohol over the frozen flower. Screw the lid on tightly.

Step 3:

Gently invert the mason jar to shake — shake kindly. Place back in the freezer for 5 minutes.

Step 4:

Remove the jar from the freezer, shake it softly, and put it back in the freezer for 5 minutes.

Step 5:

Repeat the step above 3 times.

Step 6:

Remove from the freezer and strain the tincture through a filter.

Step 7:

Store in an appropriately sized dropper tincture.

Step 8:

Move on to evaporate the alcohol, if desired, but be sure to follow the no-heat method to avoid converting the THCA into THC. Once you have completed these 8 steps, we recommend storing your tincture in a cool, dark glass jar and not in plastic. Tinctures can be stored for up to several months or even longer.

For the Best Results…

For good practice, we also recommend not to decarboxylate your THC flower if you want to keep the THCA properties intact. Also, only use high-proof alcohol; the higher, the better. And last but not least, you don’t need to use the full 8 ounces of alcohol, you just need enough to cover all of the cannabis in the container you are using.
